Objective:  Integration of Learning Competencies in Mathematics at Reremoana School

Our Learning Model reflects the crucial relationship Learning to Learn  and Learning Together . It is made up of six competencies:

Being Resilient is...persevering with challenges and ‘bouncing back’ when things get tough.

Collaborating is...participating co-operatively in any given situation

Connecting is...finding and developing relationships.

Discerning is...making appropriate choices based on what I see and what I know.

Questioning is...being curious about what I think, learn and do.

Reflecting is...looking at what I have done and deciding ‘where to next’

Focus for Term One:  Questioning in Numeracy and Statistics.

Questioning:  Being curious about what I think, learn and do.
When I am Questioning I am:
  • Confirm what I already know
  • Evaluate existing thoughts, ideas and relationships
  • Clarify a situation or process
  • Take my learning to a deeper level
  • Use tools and strategies to think about a situation or solve a problem
  • Look at a situation from a variety of perspectives
  • Maintain an inquisitive attitude

* Important - we do not want to teach and assess the competencies in isolation.
